Closed Drain System

A closed drain system design is to collect hydrocarbons, water and inevitably sulphur compounds, during normal operation of the Terminal. At shutdowns, CORE can chemically decontaminate the vessels. This includes those below ground, to provide clean, safe conditions for opening, without risking escapes of toxic gases.

CORE provides decontamination products to operate at either ambient temperature, or up to 700C, depending on the design of the vessels. Application in closed-loop circulation procedures, and ‘spent’ solutions can be processed in a CORE Mobile Effluent Treatment system before the water phase is sent safely to a municipal sewer connection. Dewatered solids can usually go to non-hazardous disposal, following the Effluent Treatment process.

Where Sour Gas is processing, there will be an increase in safety concerns about H2S and Mercaptans. In addition to potentially pyrophoric FeS. CORE applies an Oxidation Rinse immediately following the chemical decontamination stage. This is to remove all residual sulphide compounds.
