Primary Fractionator

Depending on the design of the post-cracking system, the process may include a Primary Fractionator. This can be cascade washing, using a unique chemical decontamination procedure.  Therefore, application is as soon as the Fractionator comes out of service and before any manways are open. The circulation technique involves a top-to-bottom cascading circulation, using CORE’s unique chemistry, at ~900C.

Typically, circulation is only 20-25% of the total Fractionator volume as a “batch” of cleaning solution. This is to ensure turbulent flow through the trays. Two or three separate batches may circulate, depending on previous experience of fouling, including a final rinse. All effluent pumps to temporary storage tanks and can be treated in a CORE Mobile Wastewater Treatment System. This is with clean water that can go direct to sewer, and recovered hydrocarbons for recycling or disposal. Consequently, the total timescale is around 48 hours, to produce a Fractionator that is safe for entry.
