HYDROTREATERS

There are many configurations of Hydrotreaters, depending on original design, feedstock and requirements. However, during outages, most of the safety decontamination requirements are focused on the Gas Separator Drums, Reflux Drums and Strippers, and potentially the Amine Contactor.

Previous identification at Turnaround experience highlights hazardous H2S or pyrophoric FeS issues. As a result, CORE recommends the application of a water-wash technique on process equipment. This is using our aqueous chemistry, to remove hydrocarbons and particulate deposition. In addition to de-gassing the vessels and/or Stripper column. You may require a final Oxidation, to guarantee that Hydrogen Sulphide, and pyrophoric Iron Sulphide are no longer in the system.

We also have considerable experience of wet passivation of Hydrotreater Reactors. This is to protect the metal surfaces during outages, especially where there is stainless steel present. CORE can advise on successful Reactor passivation techniques and provide procedures.
