Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units (FCCU)

Key areas of fluid catalytic cracking units that require decontamination at Turnarounds, are the Main Fractionator/Light-Ends unit. Decontamination of main Fractionators can be successful using a cascade washing technique. With a CORE product, with a focus on the packed beds, where pyrophoric issues are common upon opening. At CORE, we specifically design the circulation loop to ensure that every packed bed is thoroughly flooded with chemical solution. In addition, we add a final Oxidation wash to remove any residual pyrophoric compounds. Consequently allowing safe, rapid entry for maintenance crews.

Decontamination of Light-Ends columns can be by Vapour Phase de-gassing with specific CORE Products, depending on experience from previous outages. Vapour Phase application simultaneously de-gasses and removes Benzene from towers & vessels, via injection locations, and accurate chemical addition.

Finally, decontamination of Slurry Loop Exchangers is possible ‘in-situ’ with appropriate CORE products, in parallel with the Fractionator procedure.
